4 Reasons to Manage Your Project Online

It continues to become more clear why managing a project online is so beneficial.  Here are some of the top benefits.

1: Access Your Project From Anywhere

If you have team members that work from home, different offices, or even different countries, everyone can access the same thing!

It also frees you from having to work at the same computer in the same spot all the time.  You can work from the office, coffee shop, your home computer, or even a mobile device.

Scheduling with Gantt Charts

Greetings!

It’s been a while since our last post, as we’ve been hard at work on the new release. As of last Tuesday, we officially released the new version and switched hosting providers all together; thanks to the growth we’ve seen for our awesome users!

Imagine this, you have a large project, full of multiple different resources and many events are dependent upon a previous task being completed before you can start. This is where the greatly improved TeamGantt comes in to save the day. Our online gantt chart includes a newly enhanced “Quick Add” feature, it’s very easy to create many tasks in a short period of time. With our updated drag and drop intelligence, you can continue to schedule out the tasks you just entered by, moving horizontally across the calendar, moving just the start date backwards (leaving the due date in place) and finally, dragging the end of the task and only rescheduling the end date. All done with out the cumbersome refresh that slowed things down before. Need to link two (or more) tasks together? Simple, with our much improved task dependency, you can very quickly drag the dependency line from one task to another. Have a schedule change? No problem, just update the necessary task and any connected tasks will automatically reschedule themselves, saving you endless amount of time making adjustments to your project schedule.

TeamGantt & Thanksgiving

It’s that time of year again. The time of getting together with family over turkey, mashed potatoes, and good old pumpkin pie. I’d like to take this time and send out a special thank you to the TeamGantt family and explain a little bit about our beginnings, purpose, & future plans.

First off, we’d like to thank our 2100+ users for making this passion and vision of ours come true. Just over a year ago, Nathan & I were were in a Project Management debacle. The two of us, being software developers for one of the largest roofing companies on the east coast, were struggling on how to handle the scheduling future releases of our in-house applications. As we began to merge applications that Nathan had written during his time at the company before my arrival, and the applications that I had written early as temporary band-aids, we realized that we needed solution.

Online Project Management the TeamGantt Way

There comes a time in almost every project where one must create for themselves a schedule of tasks. One common way of doing such, is to use a GTD (Getting Things Done) application such as Things, iGTD, or even OmniFocus. However, there’s a few major functionalities that are lost with these GTD applications. All these allow you to see is a task, it’s start date, and it’s end date; some will allow for resources, but even still, it’s just a list. This is where TeamGantt comes in.

Why Online is the Better Option

As time moves forward and technology becomes more and more useful there comes a change in the way tasks are handled and scheduled. In the old days, dates and timelines would be kept on paper and re-written and corrected as necessary. As computers became more widely used, pen and paper began to get replaced with desktop applications. Desktop applications soon became the standard allowing the days of pen and paper to pass away. Here we are, in 2010 and the internet (a.k.a. the cloud) is starting to cause another shift in the way things are done. Web based software is slowly but surely replacing desktop applications. The same can be said for TeamGantt.

TeamGantt was designed and built to be a web based, multi-user project management application. TeamGantt’s focus is to replace its desktop competitors. Currently, Microsoft Project and OmniPlan have a large portion of the project management market share. The emergence of TeamGantt has allowed businesses, schools, and the average person to create and manage a wide array of projects. From software to web development; from video game development to robotics; from construction to college papers, TeamGantt has allowed its users to create, manage, and share their projects with friends, family, co-workers, and even clients.
